An Eye Cream That Helps You Fake Drinking Water

Since Cate Blanchett is the ever-present spokeswoman for SK-II, it’s a little difficult not to think of her as you use the brand’s products. I imagine her perfect, porcelain skin in Elizabeth as I splash the Facial Treatment Essence directly onto my skin from the fridge — and I certainly pictured her (and Brad Pitt’s) youthfulness in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as I tried out SK-II’s newest Facial Treatment Essence-Eye.

Depending upon your under-eye area, the latter product is either a serum you’re meant to layer under your eye cream or rich enough to use on its own. Silky smooth in texture, it sinks into the eye area with the gentlest of pats, giving the entire eye a less crepey look, even on days when I forget to drink water. Made out of hydrating white lupine and alfalfa extracts, it also contains pitera, the proprietary anti-aging liquid created in the sake fermentation process discovered by SK-II scientists. It’s light enough to be used for day or night, and leaves a nice base for makeup that isn’t filmy. Here’s to Benjamin Button–ing my under-eye area.
